Pardon My Ignorance

The key to warriorship is not being afraid of who you are. - Chogyam Trungpa

“Dear Sam, Denise, Sept 27, ‘17

I trust you will not be too offended at this little appendage with my “thank you” card, but the Lord has laid it on my heart that I should do it, or say it.
I have to confess that I was a little surprised to see a number of symbols, carvings and portraits of what I assume to have been the bygone leaders of Eastern Religions in and around your beautiful home.
Denise, I know nothing of your background, but Sam you will have been taught at your mother’s knee that all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God Romans 3:23, also that the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23.
These men and women were all born as human beings prone to sin just like you & I.
If in their lifetime they never put their faith and trust in the Lord Jesus, when he gave His life a ransom to pay for their sins at Calvary’s cross, then they await the resurrection of which we are told in the latter part of Revelations 20.
After his crucificion (sic) the Lord Jesus rose from the dead on the third day. He is now an exalted and glorified Savior as we read in Hebrews Chapters I v 3.
Our little span of life is passing quickly by. In less than 50 years we will each be in the place which we have chosen for the endless ages of eternity.
Words cannot express the tranquility experienced of mind & soul, having the assurance of sins forgiven, Christ as our Savior & Heaven as our Home as we reign with Him forever.
Much love & prayers for you both, [Gospel Hall Sister X]

P.S. I know absolutely nothing about Eastern Religions, so if I have misinterpreted something, please accept my apologies & pardon my ignorance.

Dear [Gospel Hall Sister X]

Thank you for sharing your heartfelt truth. I am not surprised, but your letter has brought up an interesting issue. I trust you will not be too offended at my heart felt answer.
We invited you to visit because you kindly offered to facilitate a family connection. I also invited you to attend the bible study because I thought that might make you feel more comfortable staying in our home for a couple of days. What I didn’t know was that I was being targeted for a spiritual intervention. I didn't see the point of engaging any of that. I still don’t.
Just as biblical texts in your home are meaningful to you, we have our own reminders of Spirit and Truth.
I don’t need your approval just as you don’t need mine. I am offended that you felt the need to append your ‘thank you’ note. It disrespects my wife’s hospitality.
Organized religion always divides the true believers from heretics, the saved from the unsaved. I experience God as life, love, being and consciousness. God is no longer a religious concept to me. It is the way I live my life.
You are right that we will all be dead in a few years. Life is too short not to stand in the integrity of our own experience. I wish you tranquility of mind & soul. Who knows, perhaps someday we will see each other again. Until then:
Peace I give to you, Samuel Long

P.S. I know absolutely nothing about your personal faith experience, so if I have misinterpreted something, please accept my apologies & pardon my ignorance.
