MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!
WE ARE EACH THE CHRIST-CHILD COMING INTO THE WORLD TO LOVE AND REDEEM IT!
Q: Hi Fran.........You talk about the "Transcendent Self." But isn't the Self BOTH transcendent AND immanent?
A: Yes, the transcendent Self and the relative ego, (or personal sense of self) are simply two aspects of the Self.
Q: Ok, so in your answer here you also now talk about the "relative ego." How many "selves" are there!? How then, does the relative ego differ from the immanent aspect of the Self? What is the relationship between the two?
A: No "relationship" really. They are the same. The immanent aspect of the self IS the relative ego or personal identity. But the Self is ONE...This is the real meaning of "Non-Duality. The Self is in everything and everything is in the Self, or one could say "in God", including the personal "you", the relative ego or person called by your name.
The transcendent Self is the absolute, ultimate identity.....the Christ/Buddha within......and the phenomenal incarnation of it in each of us is the relative ego...or personal sense of self......You cannot really separate the two, except to make a distinction for the purposes of talking about these two aspects of the Self. The divine incarnation will be utterly unique and personal in you and in me, in each one of us, since each one of us are utterly unique. The aspect of the divine that we each incarnate in our person has never been seen before and will never be seen again in precisely the same way. Like the beautiful snowflakes or exquisite diamonds that nature forms, no two of us are ever really precisely alike. Each one manifests the divine in a completely new way.
This is an absolutely lovely truth. It points to how precious we each are on a personal level, how precious YOU are! The traditional teachings found in Christianity and all the monotheistic religions about each of us "being loved by God personally" is not a fantasy, as is so often assumed in some contemporary, non-dual spiritual scenes. This idea that God loves you personally is actually pointing to this truth that each one of us is a precious and unique manifestation or incarnation of the divine....So we could say that each one of us is quite personally "loved by God", if you will.
Q: I'm not sure when and where it would be most appropriate to ask you Fran, but what is your position (as a "Christian non-dual teacher") on the doctrine and idea that we find in traditional Christian theology of the "hypostatic union" between the divine and human natures in Christ? Do you think that the hypostatic union was a unique event that only happened in Jesus, or is it something that happens for each human?
....... i.e. are you and I equally "incarnations of the divine Logos" as Jesus the Nazarene himself was?
A: Yes, imo and experience, we are just that! My sense is that all the wonderful things that the early patristic theology and creedal Christoogy sees in Jesus of Nazareth is actually pointing to who we ALL are on an absolute level. We are all "God from God, light from Light, true God from true God....Begotten not made, one in being with the Father/Source" as the creed says about Jesus of Nazareth.
For me, THIS is precisely "the Good News", the Gospel, the true and liberating teaching of Jesus of Nazareth. This is the message I want to give my whole life to sharing and spreading all over the world if I can.
It is the liberating enlightenment teaching of Jesus...It is the true message and meaning of Christmas, that we are ALL born divine, we are all a precious light coming into the world, each of us "the only begotten child of God". We are each a divine incarnation....we are ALL the divine Christ-child coming into the world in order to love and redeem the world!
We simply need to wake up to this beautiful fact of our true, divine identity and then LIVE from that identity!
