Gamble

“Time to cash in your chips, put your ideas and beliefs on the table. See who has the bigger hand, you or the Mystery that pervades you. Time to scrape the mind's shit off your shoes, undo the laces that hold your prison together and dangle your toes into emptiness. Once you've put everything on the table, once all of your currency is gone and your pockets are full of air, all you've got left to gamble with is yourself. Go ahead, climb up onto the velvet top of the highest stakes table. Place yourself as the bet. Look God in the eyes and finally for once in your life, lose.” ― Adyashanti

“Some day, I suppose it's possible for someone to be a better no limit hold 'em player than me. I doubt it, but it could happen. But, I swear to you, I don't see how anyone could ever play gin better than me.”

~ Stuart Ungar (1953 –1998) was widely regarded to have been the greatest Texas hold 'em and gin player of all time. Stu Ungar had a genius IQ and a photographic memory. People who played poker against Stu claimed that he had a sixth sense. His thrill-seeking nature always pushed his life to the brink. It made him unstoppable at the poker tables, but it was also his downfall away from the game. Despite having won $30 million during his career, Ungar died with no assets. A collection was taken up at Ungar's funeral to pay for the services.
